Friday Favorites: Adventures, Fun, and Magical Mushrooms
Happy Friday!
September was jam-packed with lots of fun, travel, exciting changes, and new adventures. We went to Maine twice, had a trip out West (see below), and I started my new veterinary position with Indevets. I believe in creating your own path and finding the balance in life that works for you. For me, that means balancing my veterinary career and health coaching. Indevets' mission believes that happy, healthy vets make better vets. Clearly, they speak my language and share my mission.…
Completing The Stress Cycle
How is your stress management? There's a good chance that even if you think you're managing stress, you're not actually allowing your body to completely recover. Do you tend to get sick at the start of a vacation or have you noticed your fuse is shorter than normal lately? Feeling exhausted? Having trouble sleeping? Let's make sure you're giving your body a chance to complete the stress response frequently.
Stress Used To Be My Default Setting
Lately, I’ve been feeling more stress. Lots…
The Potato Magic Trick
I want to get you excited about food. I don’t mean the rampant love for french fries, anything cheese, and sweets like cake, ice cream, and all the “good stuff”. I mean the REAL good stuff. The food that’s nutrient-packed, delicious, and that will do amazingly beneficial things for your body.
I love “healthy food”. I love the way it tastes, the way it makes me feel physically and mentally, and I even love the colors. You may not be at this level when it comes to your relationship with he…
Friday Favorites: Staying Healthy When Traveling
Happy Friday! How are you doing? It has been a whirlwind of a week returning home from my trip to Maine and Vermont and starting a new veterinary job (for greater flexibility with health coaching!). My trip to New England was everything I hoped for. It felt so good connecting with family, breathing in the fresh air, and enjoying special treats like a lobster dinner and my dad’s amazing chili. Here are some of my other favorite things from the past couple of weeks:

Friday Favorites: Wellness Stores, Girlfriends, and A Quote To Live By
Happy Friday!
What’s new and good this week? One thing that’s new and good is that I’ve decided to start sharing the Friday Favorites here on the blog again. I've been sending it out as a biweekly newsletter, but this way it’s easier to reference back to! Here are some things making me happy that I want to share with you this week. I hope you find them helpful or inspiring.
Home Goods
I realized I’ve been keeping something from you without even realizing it! Somehow I’ve never sh…
The Veterinary Profession Is Struggling: What Pet Owners Can Do To Help
As a health coach (for humans) and veterinarian, the well-being of both you and your pet are my top priority. That's why I need to give you a heads up about what's going on in the veterinary profession right now. To put it bluntly, the veterinary industry is really struggling and overwhelmed right now.
I'm not sending this message to be an alarmist, I'm sending it to spark change and hope. I want to raise awareness and to let you know what you can do to be proactive in order to keep your pe…
Micro-stressors: The Silent Stress Majorly Impacting Your Mental Health
I want you to love the way that you look and feel and to finally get the results that you want and that you deserve. That is why we are tackling stress today! Specifically, a sneaky kind of stress called micro-stress.
Stress is probably one of the factors preventing you from getting the results that you want. When you're stressed it's easy to feel like you don't have any extra time or energy in order to fit in a workout or to make healthy, nourishing food options. On top of that, st…
Why You Don't Need More Discipline and Willpower
I continue to hear a lack of discipline and willpower as the excuse for why people aren't able to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Here's the thing: You're not going to magically wake up one day with this new-found discipline and willpower. The good news is, you don't need to! That's not what you need to have a healthy lifestyle. It sounds pretty miserable if you have to resist everything you love in order to be healthy. That's not healthy!
Here's what you actually need instead of disc…
Continuous Glucose Monitoring: Not Just For Diabetics!
Wohoo, I'm so excited about today's topic. We're talking about an amazingly powerful tool that the majority of Americans could be benefiting from and yet it's currently severely underutilized: continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)!
Right now continuous glucose monitoring is mainly used for diabetics, and that's a mistake. Waiting until you're a diabetic to use a CGM is like waiting until your house is on fire and then going out to buy a smoke detector and extinguisher. I'm going t…
Skinny Watermelon Lime Margarita (or Mocktail)
The gorgeous warm weather in North Carolina is here! To celebrate, I'm sharing one of my favorite fun drink: a skinny watermelon lime margarita (or mocktail). This is the perfect beverage to enjoy this week for Cinco de Mayo.
Frozen margaritas are fun but they come with a whopping dose of sugar and can have more calories than your dinner. Not so fun fact: Did you know that triple sec contains 10.9 grams of sugar and 225 calories per serving?! And that's before the margarita mix is added. Wh…
