Friday Favorites: Staying Healthy When Traveling

Happy Friday! How are you doing? It has been a whirlwind of a week returning home from my trip to Maine and Vermont and starting a new veterinary job (for greater flexibility with health coaching!). My trip to New England was everything I hoped for. It felt so good connecting with family, breathing in the fresh air, and enjoying special treats like a lobster dinner and my dad’s amazing chili. Here are some of my other favorite things from the past couple of weeks:

Why You Don't Need More Discipline and Willpower

discipline and willpower

I continue to hear a lack of discipline and willpower as the excuse for why people aren't able to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Right now continuous glucose monitoring is mainly used for diabetics, and that's a mistake. Waiting until you're a diabetic to use a CGM is like waiting until your house is on fire and then going out to buy a smoke detector and extinguisher. I'm going t…

Skinny Watermelon Lime Margarita (or Mocktail)

The gorgeous warm weather in North Carolina is here! To celebrate, I'm sharing one of my favorite fun drink: a skinny watermelon lime margarita (or mocktail). This is the perfect beverage to enjoy this week for Cinco de Mayo.

Frozen margaritas are fun but they come with a whopping dose of sugar and can have more calories than your dinner. Not so fun fact: Did you know that triple sec contains 10.9 grams of sugar and 225 calories per serving?! And that's before the margarita mix is added. What …

There's no shortage of studies or headlines proclaiming the benefits of intermittent fasting. A quick Google search will leave you believing that's absolutely the answer to all your health woes.
