Meet the Speaker:
Dr. Amelia Knight Pinkston

recovered burned out Veterinarian
Integrative Health & Life Coach

I knew going into vet med that the profession struggled with burnout...I just didn't think it would happen to me.

I was proactive: prioritizing healthy habits, stress management, positive mindset — all the things we're told to do.

Five years into practice, on the outside, I looked like I was thriving. I was the "calm", healthy, upbeat one who no one worried about — living my childhood dream.

But underneath the surface, I was struggling with constant anxiety, brain fog, exhaustion, and severe abdominal pain that came out of nowhere.

The wild part: I didn't even realize I was burned out until my body was screaming at me, because high stress and pushing through were my norm.

Instead of staying stuck, I got curious: what went wrong when I had tried so hard to do things right?

That curiosity led to years of deep dives, certifications, and trial-and-error to understand the root of what leads to burnout — and, most importantly, how to prevent and recover from it.

With a decade of experience in small animal general practice, urgent care, and relief work across 30+ veterinary practices, I’ve both seen and experienced the realities of burnout. By blending my clinical background, personal experience, and extensive training in coaching, change work, and integrative health, I developed an approach that doesn’t just help people survive in vet med—it helps them thrive.

Today, I help veterinary professionals and leaders to shift out of survival mode and into careers and lives that feel sustainable, fulfilling, and aligned — using a holistic science-based, heart-centered approach.
